Telehealth FAQs for patients in Australia

The telehealth FAQs we are asked most often across Australia: what an appointment costs, how an online consultation actually works, where your eScript can be filled, and how medical cannabis treatment is prescribed.

Medio provides telehealth services to patients in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania, in major cities and regional areas alike. We cannot currently treat patients located in the Northern Territory or the Australian Capital Territory because of territory-specific reporting requirements.

General telehealth consultations start from $59. Medical cannabis initial consultations are $99, and follow-ups are $59. Medical certificates start from $19. All fees are clearly listed on our pricing page with no hidden charges.

It's simple: book your appointment online, complete a patient history questionnaire, then your AHPRA-registered doctor calls the number on your booking at your chosen time. There is no video link to join. If clinically appropriate, your doctor will provide prescriptions, referrals, or certificates electronically.

No. Medio is a private telehealth service, so there is no Medicare rebate on the consultation fee. Medication is dispensed by your pharmacy and PBS pricing applies there as normal, so a PBS-listed medicine costs the same at the counter whether the script came from us or from your regular doctor.

Yes, where each of them is clinically appropriate. A single consultation can produce an eScript, a specialist referral, a pathology request and a medical certificate together, and you are not charged separately for each document.

Your eScript can be filled at any Australian pharmacy of your choice. We send prescriptions electronically to your phone, and you're free to use any pharmacy. We don't lock you into a specific provider.

We offer same-day and after-hours appointments subject to availability. Most patients can book a consultation within 24 to 48 hours. Check our booking page for current availability.

Yes. All Medio doctors are fully registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). They are qualified Australian medical practitioners who provide evidence-based care.

Telehealth is not for emergencies. Chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, stroke symptoms or thoughts of harming yourself need immediate care, so call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department rather than booking an appointment.
