Online Doctor Consultations in Australia

You book a time, complete a short history questionnaire, and an AHPRA-registered doctor phones the number on your booking at that time. There is no video link to join and nothing to install. If the doctor decides a prescription, referral or certificate is appropriate, it is issued electronically after the call.

A standard consultation is $59. There is no membership, no subscription and no booking fee on top. Medio is a private telehealth service, so there is no Medicare rebate on the consultation fee, and what you see is what you pay.

A phone call. Your doctor calls the number you gave when booking, which means it works on a bad connection, in a car park, or at work, and you do not need a camera or an app. If the doctor needs to see something such as a rash, they will ask you to send a photo.

Same-day and after-hours appointments are available subject to availability, and most people book within twenty four to forty eight hours. The booking page shows the times that are actually open rather than a request queue, so the slot you pick is the slot you get.

The common ones are respiratory and throat infections, urinary tract infections, skin conditions, gastro, migraine, contraception, sexual health, mental health reviews, and continuing treatment for a condition you already have. If what you describe needs an examination or a test, the doctor will say so and arrange the next step rather than guessing.

Yes, where it is clinically appropriate. Prescriptions are issued as eScripts sent to your phone and can be filled at any Australian pharmacy. Controlled and Schedule 8 medications are not prescribed in a standard telehealth consultation, and antibiotics are only prescribed where the doctor judges them indicated.

Yes. A single consultation can produce a prescription, a specialist referral, a pathology request and a medical certificate together if all of them are appropriate to your situation. You are not charged separately for each document.

Every Medio doctor is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Anything they issue carries their name and AHPRA registration number, which anyone can check on the public AHPRA register.

No. Medio is a private service and the $59 fee is what you pay. Telehealth attracts a Medicare rebate only where you have an existing face-to-face relationship with the practice, which by definition a first online appointment does not, so a flat private fee is clearer than a rebate most people would not qualify for.

Not necessarily, but every doctor sees your history, previous consultations and what has already been prescribed, so you are not starting the conversation again. If continuity matters for your situation, say so when you book and we will do what we can.

Telehealth is not for emergencies. Chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, stroke symptoms or thoughts of harming yourself need immediate care: call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department. For urgent but not emergency problems, book the earliest available appointment and describe the urgency in your questionnaire.
