If the doctor decides your situation needs a fuller assessment rather than a certificate, they will tell you what the appropriate next step is and what it costs before anything else happens.

You do not need to wait for an appointment slot, because the doctor works from the questionnaire you complete rather than a scheduled call. If the doctor needs to clarify something before deciding, they will phone you, which can add a little time.

An employer can ask whether the evidence is genuine, but they cannot reasonably reject a certificate simply because the consultation happened by telehealth. If you were unwell yesterday and are requesting the certificate today, say so in your questionnaire and the doctor will decide what is defensible to certify. A certificate covering a long period before the consultation is generally not appropriate and the doctor may decline to issue one.

The doctor makes the clinical call, and paying the fee does not guarantee a certificate. If the doctor cannot issue one, they will explain why and, where relevant, suggest the right next step.
